About Light on Yoga Fitness
Light on Yoga Fitness is a yoga and aerial studio in downtown Huntsville, Alabama, set in a historic church in the Five Points neighborhood. Every class is open to all levels. We built the studio’s WordPress site in 2021 and still host and look after it.
The brief
By 2026 the site looked flat. The studio asked for more vibrancy: deeper teal, stronger photography and less muted color. It also needed a home for Huntsville Yoga Week, its week of free classes at venues around the city.
A 2026 redesign
We started from the original Adobe XD mockups and turned them into a brand system: colors, a type scale and design tokens, mapped into Elementor’s site settings so every page draws from the same values.
We looked at rebuilding on a different stack and chose to stay on WordPress and Elementor, so the work went into the design rather than a rebuild. The new layouts give the content more room, with large photos of classes and the studio itself.
Huntsville Yoga Week
Huntsville Yoga Week has its own look, so we treated it as a sub-brand with a separate palette. The studio’s teal bridges to the event’s brighter blue, and the event colors stay on the event page instead of spilling into the studio’s core pages.
The landing page at lightonyogafitness.com/hyw lays out seven days of free classes, each day in its own color with its venue and a register button. Yoga classes in the studio itself are free that week too. We updated the registration form with the 2026 dates and venues. The redesign and the event page launched together on April 2, 2026.
Under the hood
Class descriptions, pricing and instructor profiles come from a custom plugin, and the class schedule comes from Mindbody. As part of the redesign we audited the plugin and its child theme for security and speed. We stopped code that was running twice on each page load and set its styles to load only on the pages that use them.
Where it started
The first site was on Wix. It had the right information, but it had grown bulky and hard to manage, and the design felt dated. In 2021 we moved the studio to WordPress on our managed Flywheel hosting with a lighter design built around its light blue.
Ongoing support
We host the site on Flywheel and keep WordPress and its plugins up to date. When the studio’s lineup changes, we handle the content updates, like new instructor bios and changes to the class list.
